A view of the large, brick, cupola-topped Sumter County, AL courthouse with a wrought iron fence and part of an 1830s brick building in the foreground.

Grandiose, Beaux-Arts Style Courthouse (1902)

Livingston, AL

Built in 1902 at the center of Livingston's downtown square. This is actually the 4th courthouse here - previous ones have perished in one way or another, one collapsing and another burning. The former probate judge's office (c. 1830, shown on the right) survived the fire that took a previous courthouse.
