A student art project, "Goldie 1971" (artist: Joe McCreary) is a 3-ton, pig-iron robot sculpture. Along with Vulcan, the resting statue is a tribute to Birmingham's once-mighty iron ore industry. And, like Vulcan, Goldie wears no pants. The sculpture, along with many others, are free to the public on UA's Woods Quad.
