An early 1800s, two-story brick home with a chimney at each end. Slight ornamentation above the windows and shutters on each side. The front of the house is lined with a row of bushes, and the sign in foreground reads "King House".

Original 1823 Plantation House

Montevallo, AL

Built with slave labor, King House (1823) was once the grandest home (the first to have imported glass windows) in central Alabama. The plantation eventually transformed into a university, so these days the King House sits quietly in the middle of the quad.
