A brick-walled, flower-decorated entrance to a university. An archway over the entrance reads "University of Montevallo" while a hanging sign reads "Welcome Home". Green-leafed trees are visible and a third-story cupola sits high in the background.

Pioneering College Designed by Famous Architects

Montevallo, AL

The University of Montevallo was one of the first to offer career-focused education to women. The campus was designed by the Olmsted Brothers (of Frederick Law Olmsted fame, designer of NYC's Central Park), but the Great Depression imposed financial limits. The campus, with its iconic brick walkways (from a local manufacturer), thus follows the spirit of the original plan.
